Small IB shops in London
I know that this is a US based forum but I want to know how do I find these firms? Am I just expected to know these firms (I clearly don’t) or do you guys follow a site of some sort that has a list of all IB firms in London?
Where do I have to go to find these small to mid IB shops?
Mergermarket is probably the easiest source
Yeah I'm sure that a random student looking for small boutiques to get experience has access to Mergermarket.

To be honest, there is not an evident source to find the small shops in London. Mergermarket could be a good source, but if you're not in the industry you won't probably have access to it. The best way to know the small players in London is by working at a MM boutique and doing networking. Compared to the US, the numbers of small shop in London is smaller, since Big 4 firm take a significant market share of the MM spectrum, a few names that come to my mind are these:

Then for deals over 250M you have larger boutiques such as Houlihan Lockey, Jefferies, Lincoln International, Baird, William Blair, Stifel, Pipper Sandler, Stephens, Harris Williams, Cantor Fitzerald, Cannaccord Genuity, Bryan Garnier & Co, Gleacher Shacklok, DC Advisory...
These were the names that came up to my mind, I am sure I am missing some, but I hope you find it helpful.
A great list, but be careful because some of these shops are still being gatekept by other agencies.
For example Torch Partners outsources their HR to Freshminds, and Fenchurch and Alantra outsources recruiting to Dartmouth.
Gleacher also uses Freshminds and DC Advisory uses Dartmouth.
