Sophomore having trouble landing an internship

Hello,

Im a sophomore at a top 10 school that is sort of a semi target due to its prestige but few go into finance. There are a decent but not large amount of alumni in finance. I am having trouble landing an internship for this upcoming summer. I have emailed lots of firms to chat, but so far I have not heard back. Does anyone have advice on programs or companies I can reach out to as a sophomore? I see some small firms hiring people from schools in the area and I have contacted them but gotten no few responses.

I hope others can add more useful info, but my only advice is to keep pushing. This is a numbers game and if you keep going at it, eventually something will click for you. Don't lose hope and also keep things in perspective— we're having a global pandemic this year.

I have applied to investment banks through general applications and diversity programs. I have also reached out to small investment banks and private equity firms.

that's your problem. Apply to companies you've never heard. Don't apply to the BB/EBs of the world until you have actual experience
