S&T desks to move to M&A

I was wondering what S&T desks it would be possible to move into M&A from? I was wondering whether certain credit/equities desks may give you exposure to company financial modelling and therefore the move could be possible at a reasonably junior level. I am aware that this move is possible from equity research, however I am not quite sure what trading desks would be most similar.

I've seen friends who moved from S&T to both product and coverage groups after 2 years at their desks (the firm was MS). Not sure if you'll be treated as a 3rd year analyst, but the transition itself seems to be possible.

What S&T desks did they move from?

Should be viewed as any internal lateral within the bank. Junior level moves like this are not uncommon and quite frankly you're not going to pigeonhole yourself so early on to not qualify for a banking job.
