Struck out FT recruiting, going MM private credit/mezz debt fund but want to go into IB in 1-2 years

Was unable to ocr, no FT recruiting opportunities panned out (from a non-target, top 5% of class and apart of all finance org). Currently have an offer to join a mm private credit/mezz debt fund post grad, really want to move into IB after a year or two. I have two questions i) how should I approach networking atp, ii) would i be considered a lateral hire or would i begin with the rest of an1 class in July in 2027/2028
