Structural Disincentives to be Healthy

I woke up this morning with a fever high enough to call in sick, which is counted as a vacation day at my bank's policies. Over the course of the day (which is still ongoing... waiting for comments) I probably did about 70-80% of the work that I normally do: dialing into conference calls, updating models and slides, responding to one-off requests from associates or VPs or whoever. All of this was even more difficult given that I don't have a real setup in my apartment and lack some of the resources at the office

This leads me to ask... why did I even bother using a vacation day? I didn't get to sleep and recuperate at all and at most I did 3 hours less of work.

Obviously I understand that banking requires long hours and rapid responses, but this seems like a perverse disincentive to stay healthy and to quarantine yourself so that the rest of your team doesn't catch whatever you have, since I had to use time off.

I like my team, but do I like them enough to use my days off merely to prevent them from getting sick? Not really. Seems like this system just causes people to go into work when sick and infect the whole office.
