Summer Internship 2024 Starting Dates
I am looking to do a year studying abroad and I am planning to apply for summer internships for the following summer. I have been trying to find out the dates of when summer internships start to help me decide which institution to study at however, I have not been able to find this out online. When do the earliest internships start, when do most of them start and when do the last ones tend to start?
Most start in June and run anywhere from 6-12 weeks, ending in August/ September.
Not sure if you’re referring to non-US internships but I’ve never seen an internship end after mid-August in the US.

Is there any sort of flexibility with the 1-2 weeks of training before the main programme?
Doubtful. Your firm typically will pre-register you prior to the internship with a training org (e.g., TTS) to train you for those 5 or so days and you will have to be there.
From what I’ve experienced / seen it depends. My end of spring semester was early June after my internship program started. Luckily I was taking half online classes and the rest of my in-person finals were before the date. There was one kid who got to skip some of the training since he had in-person finals in the middle of that first week.
My next SA gig is starting after Memorial Day, and the firm is expecting my professors to compensate. Just have a conversation with your professor as early as possible and they’ll be more than happy to find a workaround, which is usually just an accelerated schedule at the end of the term
