Switching groups at Jefferies
Incoming SA analyst class of 2026 in the FIG group, but I am considering reaching out to HR if I can switch to the generalist program? Can I even do that?

Why shoot yourself in the foot before you even start? Get at least half way through the internship before you begin the convos otherwise it is a bad look to say you don't want to be in FIG when you haven't even worked there.

lol go for it I guess. Horrible look though and if at all you are in a situation where you need the return offer at the end of the summer you'll just be shit out of luck.
Also I have seen people switching groups at Jefferies like from SF to NYC from SA to Full-time
Yeah that's at the end of the internship not a year in advance. I work at JefCo and my group's had interns switch out too but if an incoming intern told me they aren't interested in my group and want to go to another group then I'll just tell them to kick rocks and we won't give a return offer. The first thing HR asks us when an intern wants to switch teams is whether he's good or no.
