Take the early offer or play another hand?
Hi All,
I just received an offer for an S&T summer analyst position for 2020. I am definitely interested in the markets, but this offer comes way before most other firms that I am looking at have begun their processes. I know that I am interested in restructuring and would want to recruit that if given the opportunity.
However, my offer is exploding and I only have a week or so left to decide. Do you think it is wise to let the offer explode in hopes that I may get something better - or do I take it and just be thankful that I got anything at all?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Ask for an extension and ask other firms to accelerate. If your interested in restructuring, when you notify other firms of your exploding offer (I’m guessing Barclays or Citi) just mention you have an offer from X firm. No need to specify for S&T. It isn’t deceptive to not mention what division.
Edit: Deleted comment that attempted to clear up confusion and unintentionally spurred monkey shit.
