Back office. Comp depends on bank and location but $70-85k base is common in NY, with a bonus of maybe $5-10k. Lower if you're in regional offices
Is starting off there a good idea if I want to pursue a front office role ?
Nope. Will dig yourself a giant resume hole. Took me a long time to get out of Ops and I’m a success story, there’s tons more that don’t make it. But if it’s all you got then it’s better than unemployment.
What makes you a success story ? And what other options would be better to land a front office role ? Would starting at middle office be any different?
