Terrified of losing my job before it even starts
In the midst of all of the layoffs, I am genuinely terrified that I am going to lose my ft job before it even begins. A friend of mine had his offer rescinded a week after he got it. Is that common? Or is it less common to layoff incoming first years?
Where was your friend going
I can't remember but I think it was a smaller boutique bank
Unlikely. Layoffs are pretty junior heavy at most banks. Actually, even tech firms are firing middle management.
Point is: they will need junior headcount for the fall, when you start. The manufactured storm is the next six months, hence the cull of juniors, which are effectively cost centers and won’t be producing, since business has been halted.
Then the cycle will begin anew, with inflation conquered and cheap cash for all.
