I usually would wait for at least a few hours or the next morning. Immediately after seemed too quick to me.

Thank you emails is one of those things that no one will hold against you if you do it but some people will if you don’t.
As someone said above, should have done it immediately, but better late than never. Just try to get them out before the weekend
Don’t send any thank you letters today. Send them Monday or Tuesday, if sent today they’ll just sit in their inbox and could possibly be missed entirely. On Thursday or Friday interviews, I’ve always sent thank you emails or whatever the following Tuesday
