The Best Coverage Group in the World

Career Resources
Stripclubs and brothels. We don't do a lot of debt but there's a lot of public offerings and mergers.
Demand for sex never stops.
I got to work on a pitch book for a lingerie and swimwear company......never had so much fun making a pitch book. Even binding was a blast.
Might be high risk, but I wouldn't mind working in MAC (Money Launders, Arms Dealers, & Cartels). I figure they would have some nice acquisitions and divestitures--not to mentioning strong international exposure with a variety of asset classes.
GS Technology, Media & Telecommunications Group - deals with Disney, Viacom, etc. Top group
This is very Dwight Schrute.
My ideal group would be sports teams and/or beer, wine and spirits.
No, beet farm M&A would be very Dwight Schrute.
I'm like the stripclubs & brothels idea. Imagine doing the due diligence. Plus you could get a few of the ladies to come on the roadshow if there's ever an IPO.
.
I dunno gekko if you screw up a deal in that industry it's quite literally your ass on the line. Somehow I don't think they'd be too forgiving of failed acquisitions.
Paper clip and toilet paper manufacturing
I think that's called Consumer/Retail
If I had meant to include all of consumer/retail in my ideal coverage group, I would have said "Consumer/Retail".
movie studios and sports franchises
I meant the deadpan response to a ridiculous question was Schrute-esque.
Beet farm M&A, public finance of sheriff's departments, and paper products/business services (Dunder Mifflin/Sabre...someone should mention that in the "most interesting transaction" thread)
Video game companies
A vice coverage group would be cool. Gambling, tobacco, alcohol, firearms. Imagine the closing dinners.
Best Coverage Groups going forward? (Originally Posted: 01/27/2009)
Just wondering what people's opinions are of which coverage groups would be the best to go into in this environment (or at least in the next couple years).
It looks like healthcare seems to be doing alright. Would it be wise to enter a FIG group considering what's going down in that sector? How about consumer/retail? Energy?
Thanks
Go for the people that you like most. No point being in a booming industry group when you can't work well with your co-workers.
I completely agree... I'm just wondering how applicable that is for something like a summer internship. I have friends the year above me who got summer offers at BBs and were told to just list their top group choices. These guys had no idea who else were in the groups and thus wouldn't have been able to gauge fit at all before selecting.
FIG, Industrials, Healthcare
What are people's thoughts on Energy/Natural Resources Groups?
bump
Valuation techniques in FIG are very specific. Wouldn't recommend a summer there unless you're sure you like the space.
That being said, I wouldn't recommend going into any coverage group that you aren't interested in. Pick an industry group that peaks your interest, don't worry so much about not being busy because that will take care of itself.
