There’s not enough money in investment banking
An1 here and honestly I am so bored. This job is not challenging me and I honestly don’t think ~2mm per year will be enough for me.
I thought An1 year was supposed to be so difficult but honestly I am just bored out of my fucking mind, not being challenged
Congrats on Lincoln International
Tell me you work in a shit group without telling me you work in a shit group
Ok be pissed all you want? Lol it’s my experience and my opinion. Not sure how you can be offended by someone having a different experience and view than your own?
Then leave and make your millions. Seems pretty simple; if you're too smart for banking (and many people are), go to Jane Street or something. The thing is, most people who are too smart for banking and don't come across as socially weird generally already have those jobs so maybe some introspection is in order.
Yeah bro I'm sure people at Jane Street aren't socially weird at all when you see the vibes that emanate from SBF and Caroline Ellison
totally bro, two people who left the company years ago are representative of all people who work there. think the point is that they didn't come off like hardos and were normal seeming enough to get the job in the first place
Where are you going to get $2mm per year
Moving logos and transcribing comments is not that challenging, so you're spot on.
yep. that’s what i’m saying. pretty frustrating
I don't think you're going to find anything wildly intellectually stimulating at the junior roles though.
There will always be shit work that junior people do because senior's time is more valuable spent elsewhere.
If you hate it, get out, but there is no greener grass.
IB is algebra and PPT. This job is not meant for smart people who need intellectual stimulation.
When you’re about to get laid off and you brag on WSO how you have nothing to do
You sound like the man!
Hard to be satisfied with the prospect of $2 / yr at the senior level of IB when you know there are literally people out there (literally the clients) with net worths of 100m+ (and even fucking billions) . Leads you to constantly think about how to position yourself for ... ways to get to that 100m level. If you have any good suggestions let me know - I certainly have ideas of my own
Comparison is the thief of joy. You can do almost anything making $2M a year. The vast majority of the population will never touch that. You need to ask yourself what is "enough"?
