Thoughts on interview

I recently had a phone interview with an IBD of a BB for an internship. It lasted 30 minutes exactly. First, the guy introduced himself and then asked me to introduce myself. I told him my story, maybe a 3 minute response. Told him about my most recent internship in ER.. then he went straight into some valuation questions. About how to value company, enterprise value, etc. I answered some of these okay... others he helped me figure out. Then he said do you have any questions for me?. He really asked no behavioral or fit questions.. I had a couple questions. But then after that, I just started talking about why i want IB and why I think im ready for the internship. Not sure how he recepted it.. but he said that internship is good way for us to see if we like you, and for you to see if you like us. Then he said the time was up and thanked me for interview. I couldnt tell if my story resonated to him or not...

Do you think I did the right thing? Also, I met an MD at the bank before who basically got me the interview, should I follow up with him as well and say thanks?

You should always follow up and say thanks, do it ASAP, keep that network alive and happy! And it's just the right thing to do...
