What is their reputation on the street? Seems like most don’t know about the firm, but those who do have great things to say.

Very well-respected. Would take them over most groups at mid-tier BBs if you’re interested in staying in banking or making the switch to PE.

I think it's exactly the way you put it. Most college prospects and analysts won't know about M. Klein. But, those who have been in the industry long enough or those who work in similar circles as M. Klein have great respect for the firm. The reality is that there are great shops outside of BBs and EBs that go unnoticed (Dyal, LT, RW, DBO, Zaoui, etc.)
I think you've got it backward. College kids on WSO idolize M. Klein, Dyal, Liontree et al. but nobody in real life has any idea what these places are
