Thoughts on Nomura
Exit? Comp? Lateral? Deal flow? Just general thoughts in the bank and how the overall experience is there? Also the return offer rate?

My little thoughts since no one else chimed in
Nomura in the lens of the Japanese banks is like what credit Suisse was in the lens of European banks
More risk on. More willing to have a trading / investing arm and do LBO kind of deals.
That said it’s still a Japanese bank
I haven’t personally since much from them in a while. I figure the exchange rate stuff and the rising rates thing a few years back quieted their U.S. ambitions. My own business has a Japanese client that is going from an M&A to an RX situation just given the relative dynamics of Japanese U.S. economies these days (trade war, dollar yen strength, sentiment etc)
how Nomura fits into U.S. markets can be tough as it’s like a tourist. I think they acquired a U.S. asset not too long ago but would be surprised if they start making headlines here again soon.
That said it’s still a major Japanese and global bank. Could still see a good career option there in general.
Good luck
Depends. Greentech (GII) has amazing deal flow per capita.
A different beast vs the broader Nomura but Greentech is SWEATY.
Man. I just want to have relevant experiences (deals that I work on), don’t want to die tho too.
I think your information is a bit outdated. My old bank had a few legacy Greentech laterals right before I left. Looks like the rainmaker/founder of GT retired and the group has been struggling ever since, which is why they merged it into GII.
