I was wondering what are you thoughts about PJT partners? Do you think that they are set to grow in the next few years and to become a well known name such as Lazard and Evercore? What are their specialties other than restructuring? Are they a serious player in the fields of IPOs and SPACs? M&As?
I would like to hear your thoughts in general, on a business level, and not in terms of compensation and career path.

PJT is far from just a rx shop... It's one of the major players in the M&A space as well... Take a look at the tombstones on their website: $63B acquisition of Allergan, $59B merger T mobile & sprint, $48B acquisition of Sky, $26B acquisition of TD Ameritrade.
They're one of the best investment banks in NY and will continue to grow. The firm was ~500 people in 2019, and now it's closer to 750.
If you want to work on IPOs and SPACs don't go to an EB
It's a very difficult firm to land a job in FT. You pretty much need to come from a top-school, and the interviews are much harder than most BB's (so I've heard).
Any candidate who is able to land a FT offer at PJT most likely also has multiple BB/EB offers.
Great deal flow and close rates. Crazy hours even for ibd though. A friend of mine who works there told me analysts/associates are taking pilot pills to stay awake.

Ahead of EVR in terms of Rx/RSSG, but trails slightly on the M&A front (more like CVP LAZ PWP). Average deal size around 3bn with a few giant ones.

Agree with this. RSSG is top of the street and M&A is behind the leaders like EVR but still very strong
