First get your GPA up. It will be a lot easier once your GPA is higher. The main thing with non finance/econ majors is that you have to nail why you're interested. Part of being interested is also nailing ALL the basic technicals and knowing the WSJ/general business news inside and out. People will be tempted to say fuck you and move along to the next kid from wharton who they know will do the job. Make sure you have a genuine answer to why you want to work in finance.

Got it. I just want to be able to at least snag a 1st round interview next year at a BB. I'm really concerned that my liberal arts background will put me at a disadvantage. Would switching back to Econ help at all, or is it relatively the same as any other lib. arts major? I'd prefer sticking it out as a history major and I'd still probably be able to come up with a story as to why I'm interested in banking.

I had lunch with a group head at a top MM yesterday. I recently switched my major from finance to history so I can get a higher GPA - I also find it a much more interesting classroom subject, and prefer to learn finance/econ/etc on my own out of the classroom anyway. He was 500% supportive of my decision, and said that anyone who doesn't see the value in a history degree is an idiot. I go to a non-target, so it was reassuring to hear his opinion. In fact, every person in my network that I've spoken with about my switch has been extremely supportive and agree when I explain my thought process for it.

So I wouldn't sweat it.
