Time for a of Model

Just a quick question - as a rule of thumb, how long should analysts take to finish a financial model? a day? a week?

If it's a q&d model - i.e. a basic equity model - it should only take an hour or two, at the most...that being said i've seen people spend an entire week building more complex models
wouldn't it depend if you were working off an existing template or doing it from scratch?
