Too early to reach out before SA?

I am lucky enough to get a SA offer from a BB. The offer was out almost immediately after the interview and I received a few calls from my first round/superday interviewers after this, they said congs and introduced business of the division to me.

My question is, while both HR and interviewers kept saying "don't hesitate to let them know if I want to contact somebody in the division before SA, they will pass some contacts to me", do I look desperate/weird if I start to contact the desks I want? Since group selection process will begin later, will this help to increase my chance of being placed to my favorite desk?
