Toxic Analyst or am I over analysing ...

Finished a summer internship at a leading BB. Expressed interest to work on desk X to an analyst working on same desk X. Analyst spreads gossip amongst other interns about my intentions and interest in the desk. Analyst is also good friends with HR, who later tells HR that I am being competitive when I am merely hard working and want to do well. If asking the analyst what I should be doing to put myself in a good position or ask who I should be speaking to on her team is competitive, that's upsetting. they also have a favourite intern from our cohort who they parade around with and refers to HR as excellent. Also, they VISIBLY, whisper things about me when I go to introduce myself to colleagues sat around them (whispering probably bad things because the tone of convo changes). At a recent event, they told me how analyst class for their team has shrunk and how they are glad about this. Am i overreacting or are they mean and toxic? Worried that HR have a negative image of me because of this ass licking analyst. This would be an issue because they choose who goes where in the business. Really puts me off the bank completely tbh.
