Transfer Student Recruiting

I'm an incoming transfer at SMU Cox this fall and want to go into Energy IB. I have no prior work/intern experience, and this year will be my first cycle of IB recruitment. I'm technically of Junior Status but I will need an extra semester to graduate unless I take summer classes. Should I stay in school for just that extra semester or do a whole year? This would give me 5-6 semesters of recruitment and more time for that SA 2026 cycle. Is staying longer typically frowned upon by employers and peers? For context, I will be applying for the Alts program as well so that may be another incentive to stay longer given the timeline.
