Transfering Blackberry Service at BB

What happens when you have a year left on your Blackberry plan when you start working for a major BB?  Do you have cancel the plan and get a new phone and NY cell number, or will the firm take over the payments on your existing plan?
Thanks in advance.

If you already have a blackberry and plan most banks will allow you to keep your existing plan etc. However, in order to get most to pay for it they will link it to their own business accounts. This means you won't be able to make changes except through your tech support office. I brought my own device with me and took it when I left as well. Most carriers will allow you to change your number to a NY one for free, which I would recommend so that delivery guys and whatnot will be able to call.

You may want to keep your own.  You won't be able to access personal email on your work computer or company blackberry.  That's why many people carry two blackberrys around.  One for work and one for personal email.

will firms let you use work blackberry for personal use (i would think this would be a reasonable perk that comes with the job.

If by personal use you mean can you use your work blackberry as your personal cellphone, yes. Also, if you own it ahead of time, then it will continue to forward personal email in the same way it did before, and there are many ways of checking things like gmail and yahoo mail on a bb, no matter how well they try to lock it down.

Also, believe me carrying around multiple devices gets old really really quickly. Most people don't have 2 bberrys, most people have a bberry and a cellphone. However, I ditched that pretty quickly, bberries work well as cellphones these days, you're gonna carry your bberry with you everywhere at all times (no matter what you think about it), so you might as well consolidate and not waste the money.
