I have an internship lined up for an IR position, and I am wondering if this will put me on a track that I cannot get off. I am a freshman, so it will be very early, but my concern is that a major firm will not value this experience as opposed to other business work. I'm too young for IB firms to consider me for internships, so I am mainly wondering if IR would confine me, or because its an internship would larger firms not care?
