UBS M&A has a great rep on the street. Telecom is ....an up and coming group lets say. People in telecom are great though, and they have a lot of fun together and get along well.
My friends in M&A are not doing much currently though....whereas my friend in telecom is getting killed (maybe pitching tho, not sure).
if you want rep and exit ops, def go for m&a. if you like the telecom industry and want a great culture, telecom might not be a bad choice...pretty international group, and they promote often internally too as far as i know, if you want to stay in banking
m&a is the stronger group in terms of deal flow. far superior placement. telecom does offer greater exposure to senior people - they don't really have associates - but this is not necessarily a benefit.
