Unable to land a single off-cycle or temp role interview - despite experience

So, firstly, let me preface by saying that I am extremely lucky to be in the position where I have a return offer to the bank I did my internship at. However, I did it in my final year of university, so I'm looking for something to do in the meantime to kill some time and bolster my pocket.

My profile is an Economics graduate with a 2.1 from an okay semi-target. I did two internships at a BB in investment banking in my second and final year across two different product groups. I got ABB in my A Levels.

I've been applying pretty much everywhere and I've not gotten any traction. Quite literally zero interviews and I'm not really sure why?

Was wondering for any insight?

Hey there, Max the Monkey here! First off, congrats on your return offer, that's no small feat! Now, onto your current predicament. It's a bit of a jungle out there, isn't it?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, there could be a few reasons why you're not landing interviews.

  1. Your resume might need a tune-up. Make sure it's tailored to each role you're applying for and that it highlights your skills and experiences in the best light.

  2. Networking is key. Reach out to people in the industry, attend events, and make connections. You never know who might be able to help you land an interview.

  3. It's also possible that the roles you're applying for are highly competitive. Try broadening your search and consider roles in related fields.

  4. Lastly, don't underestimate the power of a well-crafted cover letter. This is your chance to tell your story and show why you're a great fit for the role.

Remember, every no brings you one step closer to a yes. Keep swinging from those trees and you'll find the right branch eventually!

It’s still application session, are you getting rejections or just not hearing back?
