Undergrad Finance Major or Liberal Arts at a good School?
Is it worth it or necessary to get a degree in finance to break into IB?
I can imagine it could be helpful to have the degree, but also wondering how possible it is to break in from a non-finance (but good college) background
Liberal Arts at a good school, easy. Most banks don’t require a finance major—being an Econ and/or a Math major helps even through you technically can major in anything provided you get a good gpa, have prior relevant internships, and know some accounting and financial modeling (which you can find a variety of resources for online and beyond such as Wall Street Prep and Rosenbaum & Pearl’s “Investment Banking”).
