University of Zurich Masters for Swiss IB/PE/AM

Hi all,

I know that St Gallen is the main target in Switzerland for breaking into IB/PE/AM locally, but I am wondering how well University of Zurich does in this respect? Do they also place well in these roles in Zurich?

I intend on moving into the Swiss finance world after my undergrad for context

Based on the insights from Wall Street Oasis, St. Gallen is indeed highly regarded for breaking into investment banking, private equity, and asset management in Switzerland. It's noted for its strong recruitment presence and is a preferred institution among major financial firms in the region.

Regarding the University of Zurich (UZH), while it is a reputable institution, it does not have the same level of targeted recruitment for IB/PE/AM roles as St. Gallen. The University of Zurich offers a solid education, but if your primary goal is to break into the Swiss finance sector, particularly in high-stakes areas like IB or PE, St. Gallen might provide more direct pathways and better networking opportunities within these industries.

If you're considering UZH, it would be beneficial to actively engage in networking and seek internships early to strengthen your position in the competitive Swiss finance job market.

Based on the WSO threads, the University of Zurich (UZH) is a reputable institution and can provide a solid foundation for a career in finance, including Investment Banking (IB), Private Equity (PE), and Asset Management (AM) in Switzerland. While St. Gallen is often highlighted as the top choice for finance careers in Switzerland, UZH also holds a strong position, especially given its location in Zurich, which is a major financial hub.

Your background and additional qualifications, such as pursuing CFA certifications and gaining relevant internships, will significantly enhance your profile. UZH offers a robust curriculum that can equip you with the necessary skills, but breaking into top finance roles will also depend on your networking abilities, internships, and practical experience in the field.

If you're aiming for a career in IB, PE, or AM in Switzerland post-graduation, it's advisable to leverage UZH's resources, such as career services, alumni networks, and finance clubs, to build connections and gain industry insights. Additionally, participating in internships in Zurich can provide practical experience and improve your chances of securing a position in these competitive fields.
