Unofficial guide to surviving a recession / lay-off

Thought this would be a good place to share hacks / tips around budgeting, cost effective food purchases, etc. given uncertain times.

Cheap Foods

1. Rice, Eggs, Beans, Veggies, Bananas, Costco Rotisserie Chicken ($4.99), Multi-Vitamin Tablet --> All of these products are super cheap. I added in the multi vitamin in case you need those extra vitamins and minerals. This one could def use some more work but I think its a good base to build off of.

Mobile

1. Mint Mobile is about 30 dollars per month now vs. Verizon at 80-90$.

Dating Apps

1. Remove all dating apps.

Budgeting

1. Make sure to amortize relatively larger cash flow purchases like new iphone every two years, new computer every four-five, also add a line for "you don't know what you don't know" spontaneous purchases

Exercise

1. Cancel gym membership and get some dumbbells, resistance bands, run outside and enjoy the environment

Tea / Coffee

1. A pack of lipton tea bags is about equal to a tea you would pay at starbucks or at La Colombe coffee for a tea / coffee

Kitchen Rags

1. Way more effective than kitchen paper towels

Tap Water Filter

1. Get a brita water filter from amazon
