Validating an internship

Currently, a sophomore wanting to break into IBD 2021. For summer 2020 I was looking for internships and cold emailed a regional boutique and received a response. After a phone call, I was invited to go to the regional boutique and have an in-person meeting for an internship. This whole process was very informal and the internship itself is informal and unpaid. However, I was told the internship would involve financial modeling (sort of validating it). Is it worth the 10 hour round trip drive to go interview for it? Also, does this sound like a good experience to have before bulge bracket recruiting begins?
