Valuations to IB

Hey y'all, looking for some advice

I'm currently a junior at Wisconsin, a good gpa, triathlete, etc. While I had no luck in landing an internship in IB this summer, I will be at a small valuation shop.

They plan to staff me half on the valuation side and half on the business development side.

How do I go about trying to land a role as an analyst? Is it possible to snag an opportunity when I am a senior? Can anyone speak from moving from a small valuation shop to a big 4 then IB or just skipping the b4 entirely?

Don’t care about mm, bb, whatever. Just want the role

I would highly recommend against going from a small Val shop to big 4, you would frankly be going backwards. Would much rather go from small Val shop to larger Val shop at Lincoln, HL, Stout, etc. then jump to banking. The jump is still possible from a small Val shop just combo of killing interviews, candidate pool, luck.

do you think a sa at the larger val shops are fine for recruiting ft ib?

100%, your worst case is you take the return and spend a year modeling so much more than you would at a bank and lateral into a bank being a better 1st year as a result.

I was in Lincoln valuations for 3 years before going to banking. The modeling skills didn’t really translate to coverage banking unless I was like building a waterfall or something
