Verbal Offer Forthcoming?

So I completed the interview process for a lateral position at a BB and was told by the internal recruiter that the team had decided to extend an offer. The gating item would be finalizing the exact compensation parameters.

I was told it would be about a week, but now it's been about two weeks.

Obviously the above is not even a verbal offer so it is what it is, but I would have thought it would be pretty well expected I would receive an offer. I already have a job, but I am pretty excited about this position.

Clearly anything can happen and it's out of my hands, but does anyone have any experience with this? It makes me sort of anxious that I haven't heard anything.

Follow-up as soon as possible.

I usually give a firm a week in terms of communication (especially when a offer details are being discussed)

Haha. Don't get me wrong. I recognize the difference. It was not a general extend "an offer" to someone out there. The next step was to set up a call with me and relevant members to discuss compensation specifically.

I also recognize it means little more than nothing at this point. I guess I'd just be disappointed if it's not going anywhere since if they are still interviewing other candidates, they could have just gone about their way and gotten back to me whenever they felt like it since it's not like I was calling them or anything about when a determination would be made.

Oh well. I can send a follow up email, but worst case scenario I'm in the same place I was before, just more disappointed than if I just never heard back to begin with.

Yeah. It's clearly not a good sign. I'll send a follow up. The only potential silver linings are that the budget was being finalized for next year and last week was Thanksgiving so maybe the one week expectation was optimistic.

I think it's a replacement for a specific position too so I wouldn't have expected the position to just be done away with.

I'll let you know when I hear back (assuming I hear back!)
