Verification after Superday

Folks,

Those who might have been on the interviewer side of a Superday, would you mind sharing what is the usual process that follows post interviews.

I know that the interviewers gather into a room and talk about the candidates. But, before the decisions are made, is there any verification that is conducted? For example, do they try and verify any of the information presented on the resume? or do they wait till the candidate actually accepts an offer to start looking into things?

The reason for this question is that i have not informed my summer firm about my job search. I have an offer from them for which i have asked them for an extension and it would not be a good thing for them to find out that i'm looking for other options from someone else.

I would really appreciate some insight into this.

Thanks
