Virtual Intern Dresscode
Dress-codes for M&A can be pretty stiff - what do people expect from their virtual summer interns wanting to make a good impression? Collared shirts (ties even?) on zoom calls with the team/networking/training or just try not to look like you've just woken up?
Yeah, wondering this too. Guessing it will be suit/tie in the beginning and then relax to just dress shirt after week or so
I would just wear whatever you were expecting to wear in the office. You dont want to give anyone the chance to point something negative out because at the end when deciding offers, people will stretch to find reasons to not offer to someone and things like unprofessional-ism come up no doubt
Also be aware about what's viewable on your webcam. Definetly not getting a return offer if they see your anime girlfriend body pillow on your bed.
Wow really? Ngl that's really fucking shallow of them
Good. I don't want to be in a bank with a terrible culture.
Business casual is a safe assumption. You probably wont be moving around a lot in your house or traveling so you shouldn't be getting sweaty or anything either which is good
Pink underwear and slippers
I’d stick strictly to business professional at the start and then I’d gauge the atmosphere and team and dress accordingly.
I showed up in a shirt and tie -- my entire team was in tee shirts. Proceeded to get roasted for the first 5 minutes of the team call. Still would wear it again to be safe.
This is really good advice. However, I think that at the bare minimum for the very first video call, you should have dress shirt (no tie, no jacket) and not t shirt, even if everyone else on the call is wearing a t shirt. I feel like it's an expectation the intern will overdress for his first day. Imagine seeing an intern for the first time on the video call and he's only wearing a t shirt. Sure, you are too, but wouldn't you have expected him to overdress by at least 1 level (dress shirt)? Makes the intern look presumptuous and careless.
Yeah that's fair
I've been WFH for 7 weeks and have worn sweatpants and t-shirts every single day so I kinda forgot that sometimes you need to dress to impress people
No shoes, no shirt, and I still get service Ah... Girl look at that body Ah... Girl look at that body Ah... Girl look at the body Ah... I-I-I work out
Wow thanks for posting cringe
stfu and pm me feet pics
Saw some Zoom screenshots taken of virtual Spring Weeks (LDN BB/EBs), some people rocking a full suit & tie but mostly business casual.
Personally, I think that sitting in your student dorm or at your parents house in a suit is ridiculous. A dress shirt should be fine for first day and then adjust accordingly.
I'm sure it will be manager dependent. My team calls are completely casual, but some other analysts have to dress up because their managers want them to following the same routine they do in the office.
There’s zero harm in overdressing the first day / week before you get the vibe down
Mind pm'ing me where you got that? I'd really like to dress up and impress my team on the first day!
