Voicemail with decisions

Has anyone gotten a phone call from HR letting them know their decision but saying you should call them back? They left a voice message saying that they have some updates on my interview and to call them back. Is that usually a good/bad sign?

I would have thought it is mostly a good sign, but last time I got a voice message from a recruiter, it was actually a rejection when I call back.

p.s The decision is most likely already made, so just return their call.

I think when i've gotten rejections and they leave a voicemail, they've left the decision in the voicemail. Something along the lines of "We are sorry but we will not able to offer you a spot at superday. Best of luck." Or something to that effect.

When I received full-time offers when I was in class, they were definitely like "please call us back."

That's my personal experience.

In my experience, that's always a good sign. Every rejection I've ever gotten just came out and said it in the voicemail, so I didn't have to call back and suffer the embarrassment.

Every time I've gotten an offer or second round interview, they always want you to call back, so they can hear the excitement when you get it.

It's a neutral sign. I've been left voice mail that ultimately went either way after I called back. A senior director at my firm was just making decision calls today and left a voice mail for a rejected candidate saying to call back...
