VP - Rant
Been an associate for a while now but my VP is a serious dick.
We sit down for every project and we go through assumptions/ways to model certain items.
Make revisions back and forth and then during the final review before presenting it to the MD, she pinpoints hundreds of so-called errors when we specifically talked about these nuances and the treatment of these items. Then proceeds to put the blame on me and expresses dissatisfaction to the MD.
I never do this to my analyst and can understand why someone would do this.
Sounds like she is worried that she is at risk of being perceived as redundant and wants to try and demonstrate that she is "adding value" to the process/management in front of the MD.
Stand up for yourself, don't sit silently and take it. Also, any decent MD knows the buck stops with the VP and if there are mistakes it's on the VP.
She sounds like a real bitch. But yeah would echo what the other guy said, buck stops with the VP.
I’d try to have a private meeting with the MD to go over the model (without the VP) and see what he says.
Don't do this. Chain of command always
Do fight back verbally "sorry, didn't we already confirm this yesterday? let's take this offline" -- still very risky and the VP will forever hate you, but definitely better
This MD probably already knows they're bad as long as you present well.
