Wait for sophomore internship offer to apply for 2024 SA?

Hey monkeys,

Just wanted to ask the question above.  Current sophomore at target school: 3.7 GPA (lower-end, I know), had 2 VC internships with one of them being at a decently sized merchant bank with 1B AUM, and current analyst at a student-managed fund at my school, along with some other minor ECs.

Recruiting is even earlier this year, and I've talked ~30 analysts across a range of BBs and EBs. Many, especially at EBs, are telling me I don't need an incoming sophomore internship going in to secure an offer, but some at BBs have told me otherwise, and to wait to apply.

I'm still on the hunt for sophomore opportunities and am pretty confident I can get one, but not sure if waiting to apply for 2024 positions would be the best idea.

Thanks!
