Waiting for a decision

I received an offer to work for X firm in their lev fin group that expires this month, however I'm still interviewing. Had my second round interview to for a BB firm last friday, they will be making final decisions by mid jan.I brought up that I had another offer they were not sure if they could make a decision that quick. How should I approach X firm to get them to extend the offer without sounding rude
