Warwick or Erasmus Rotterdam?

I got accepted to MSc. Finance and Economics at Warwick and Financial Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam. I am non-EU, English speaking student with a Bachelors in Economics and Business Economics from the University of Amsterdam. Which of the both would be a better choice for me? I aim to land a high-paying role with a macroeconomic focus.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, both Warwick and Erasmus University Rotterdam are strong options, but the decision depends on your specific goals and preferences:

  1. Warwick (MSc Finance and Economics):

    • Warwick is highly regarded in the UK and has a strong reputation for finance-related programs.
    • It offers excellent placement opportunities, particularly in the UK, with a focus on consulting, finance, and economics roles.
    • The program's structure may lean more towards theoretical and academic aspects, which could align well with your macroeconomic focus.
    • Being in the UK, it provides proximity to London, a global financial hub, which could be advantageous for networking and job opportunities.
  2. Erasmus University Rotterdam (Financial Economics):

    • Erasmus has a strong reputation in Europe, particularly in the Netherlands, and is well-ranked globally.
    • The program is likely to have a more practical and applied focus, which could be beneficial for landing roles in the private sector.
    • As a non-EU student, staying in the Netherlands might offer visa advantages and familiarity, given your undergraduate background at the University of Amsterdam.
    • Rotterdam is also a major European hub, and the university has strong connections with employers in the region.

Recommendation:

  • If your goal is to work in the UK or leverage the proximity to London for high-paying roles, Warwick might be the better choice.
  • If you prefer staying in the Netherlands or focusing on a more practical, applied program, Erasmus could be a stronger fit.

Ultimately, consider factors like visa policies, alumni networks, and the specific curriculum of each program to make the best decision for your career aspirations.
