Weird IB Team Dynamic

Just lateraled to a new group months ago and am noticing the odd team dynamic. Team members in my small group are spread across the bullpen (made up of different groups). Seniors explicitly don’t allow us to sit together and there can be days where no one talks to each other except through email if necessary. The group is not very well sought after from a IB/intellectual perspective and am continuously hearing bad stories about the culture and unexpected Junior exits from the group in the past (high turnover).

Been here for almost a year and seniors have  never taken us out for drinks/lunch.

Only spoke to one Junior during the interview  process and now I’m thinking seniors were hiding other team members. Not too long after I started another person left.

How do you determine if a group has a bad culture BEFORE entering the group? Assuming they don’t post turnover rates in the job listing lol.
