What are good questions to ask MD / Group Head during Superdays?

In the past, I have always ask about career progression at the firm, or how does the analyst to associate promotion process look like at the firm. I thought by asking these questions it will give off the impression that you are in IB for the long run, however I start to realize that these are pretty bad questions for MD / Group head because many of them don't control the associate promotion process. Therefore, I'm coming to the WSO community to help generate some good questions for interviews with MD / other senior bankers.

People love talking about themselves so ask them questions about their background, career path, etc. This will also give you a chance to find some common ground with them (grew up in same area, went to same school, similar interests, etc). They will generally come out with a positive impression of you, and you’ll likely have learned something from the conversation, especially if you’re talking to someone like an MD or group head.

In my experience these people, as you would expect, don't want to be impressed during a final round, they just want to have a pleasant conversation with a potential future colleague. During my ACs I have always asked questions about their career (you can usually look them up on linkedin) that I knew weren't critical but could spark a conversation. If you want to ask something more "technical" make sure that it is actually of interest to you and them, because as I said you want to spark a conversation, not have a close-ended question answered.
