What are the best names for Corporate Banking
Didn't get an IB internship but got a Corporate Banking internship at a regional office for a BB (for Oil & Gas / Energy sector). Even though it wasn't my first choice I'm pretty excited. Just wanted to ask what the best names are for Corporate Banking in terms of pay, hours, prestige, exit opps, etc.
I don't really know how they all rank offhand, but roughly speaking the bigger the balance sheet the bigger player among banks that also have reasonably strong (top 10 or so) IB businesses. This means you see some international banks with a huge BS doing a better in corporate banking than they do with their IB business in the US, all the relationships and rainmaker MDs that are important for M&A become less relevant and money talks. You can get a lot done in corporate banking by just throwing money at people with corporate revolvers/TL until they are willing to pay you juicy fees to lead on their bonds.
BoA, Citi, JPM are strong and pay the most, then I like C5, TD/BMO a lot with massive Balance Sheets and BMO on aggressiveness for business
