Best banks to target for ft

I am about to be a junior didn’t land a great SA position. recruiting for FT 2024 have been networking some. Figure BB are less realistic at this point. played sport. What firms should I target?  and what groups? I am probably not the "safest" hire and know I need to network really hard at a MM or Boutique to get my foot in the door, but hard to know where exactly to aim. Any suggestions?

I know it’s not a direct answer but the truth is that you need to start networking ASAP and the best banks are those in which you have the strongest networks. You’re gonna need someone to pull for you. West coast target and D1 athlete should help finding people that will respond to your emails. Target alumni and former athletes but you absolutely need to network. Applying without networking for FT and without an SA will be very difficult. You’re gonna need someone to pull for you to overcome the GPA and internship issue. Like I said, your school and the fact that you are an athlete will be two big helpers but won’t work for you by just dropping your resume with no networking

Cold email as many former college athletes as you can from all divisions. Make sure your emails are personalized "My name is ... I noticed you were on the varsity x team and would love to introduce myself and chat about your experience...". You can fill in the rest.

I was a D3 athlete and I swear my response rate was +90% from other athletes regardless of the school.

I'll be honest, will be tough with that GPA w/o prior IB experience. Might be worth taking a fifth year and playing another semester/year while getting MSF if you're set on IB. But then again, SA 2023 recruiting is wrapping up so you'd be a little late to that as well.
