I didn't know that we could remove keys from a keyboard. Why would we do that? What's wrong to leave it as it is there?

@3334 For example - the most useful key to get rid of may be the F1 key. It sits right between the escape key and F2. So, when you're going through a model in excel and trying to figure out what is going on, you often jump in and out of cells. To do this you hit F2 to get into the cell and see what the formula is and where it is tracing from, and then escape to get out of the cell and move to another cell.

Basically you end up hitting F2 and escape all the time, but never us the F1 button, and as such it is simply unnecessary, gets in the way, and slows you down if you accidentally hit it. Speed yourself up a bit and pop it off with a pen, doesn't hurt your keyboard and you can always pop it back on again if you miss it for some reason.

Caps lock is pretty much just a useless key and it sits between shift and tab, which you also use all the time, so again one that can slow you down with an accident.

Thanks for the explanation, @Wilson1823!

Exactly.

Not to mention that pressing F1 gives you the Help menu, which you can't exit out of with regular Ctrl + W. You need to Alt + F4 that.

An associate removed my F1 key. Wilson1823 reasoning is spot on about not needing the key.
