What Career is Right For Me? IB?

Hi WSO.

I am currently a student at a target university and have had an interest in finance/ investing ever since middle school. I wanted to know which job is best for me. I have provided a quick bio of myself and what I like so that you can use that information to help me figure out the best job for me

  • I work best under pressure and on a deadline basis.
  • I am really really talkative and high energy and love working/talking with lots of different people.
  • I like research but don’t like doing deep-dive fundamental research and prefer investing in stocks after researching them for a short amount of time.
  • I have good communication skills and interpersonal skills and I have the ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex ideas.
  • I am someone that prefers short-term projects
  • I am very curious
  • I'm interested in being a leader
  • I am interested in the markets, shows about mining companies or Construction, human psychology, and such a level of high-stakes decision making.

Hi Donqua

Sorry that people on this thread are asses...

You are high energy, work well under pressure, able to be concise and explain topics, like doing short projects and move around a lot. You got to a target and don’t know what you want your career to be.

You sound perfect for consulting. Talk to your schools career services about it.

That’s all. Have a good day

You might like starting out in the building trades. Maybe peek into the accounting department every once in a while to get a grip on numbers and analysis. Then, complete the HBS Corporate Finance Superstar extension course. Then, talk to a fella in the building trades who also does accounting on the side. Count the sheets! Then, talk to a youtube stock day trading guru and understand how construction and accounting fits into your analysis. Then, become the LEADER GUY at TRUMP INTERNATIONAL HOLDINGS as constructing accountant stock man guru and ball your ass out!

Truck stop prostitute who day trades on RH... I would give it some thought

I’m going to be brutally honest with you and say that I don’t think finance and even consulting is the right match for you. The people who work in those fields are very dry, formal, and rather cynical to some extent.

The high energy that people talk about in this forum is about being aggressive as possible in terms of the work itself. So for example, bidding for assets, constantly demanding deliverables at a tight deadline, things of that nature.

If anything, I’d look in a different direction given how your personality comes off in this post.
