What does 'live deal' mean in IBD?
I often see people on this forum discuss about how many live deals you have done, or whether you will be involved in a live deal during internship.
So, what does 'live deal' mean in this industry?

Means you work on a mandate / have signed an engagement letter with a client to execute a transaction. As for the “live part” that means you have imminent deliverables / are in an active process that require significant capacity.
No questions that you’ll be on a live deal in your analyst stint (that’s how you get paid) - real questions is will they close
What will happen if the deal does not close?
