I've definitely had success with introductions from smaller headhunters, but I was wondering about people's experience with Selby Jennings. Are they even a legit search firm, or do they just send people's resumes unsolicited to the various opportunities they claim to have mandates for?
I've received a few voicemails from these people but nobody ever picks up when I called back. All seems very odd.

They are definitely sketchy. I know they have some real relationships, but they also are very... "send resumes out unsolicited" as well. It is incredibly difficult to tell sometimes if any given opportunity is based on a legit work and how much is unsolicited nonsense.

tbh ive actually had decent interactions w them. the sketchy recruiting firm imo is Alexander Chapman. avoid at all costs

Okay coming back to this a month later, Selby Jennings can be hit or miss, but some of their recruiters are solid and got me first rounds at strong LMM shops. And you’re right, Alexander Chapman is super unprofessional.
We have stopped using Selby. They send CVs into roles without telling candidates.
Honestly a terrible firm in an industry where the average standard is already poor.
