Typically boutiques maintain close relationships with their clients and provide advice on situations that may fall out of the M&A mold. These long-term relationships lead to the firm being "retained" for whenever the client needs to execute an M&A deal.

More of a general question. No specific boutique.
Strategic advisory can be an umbrella label. Some firms can do consulting type diligence on the side (CVP) or shareholder defense / activism (PJT Camberview). Even private placements (EVR) could be construed as such since it sits between advisory and financing. Really up to management.
