What happens in IB if there is a government shutdown
At this point it seems very likely that by the end of the week there will be a government shutdown. They are estimating it to be go longer than the one prior of 37 days. What will happen in the banking industry if there is a government shutdown?
Bump
What do you think will happen?
We’ve already seen this same stupid choreographed dance several times. Eventually one side will cave after they’ve been seen on TV shrieking for long enough
Why would anything happen in IB? Business as usual, unless you're visiting national parks after work...
Think OP means within M&A specifically since deals can’t go through without government approval – unsure how other products would be affected though
The longest gov't shutdown was only 30 days though - also the statutory waiting periods continue to run during shutdowns so only deals with active DOJ lawsuits might hit a month or less delay, the FTC/Antitrust divisions each keep a skeleton staff for any time-sensitive things
Overall a slight annoyance, but not the end of the world
