What is happening in applications?
I am passing tests and then just not hearing back while others are getting next rounds. Has happened with UBS and GHL till now. For context, I am at a target (LSE/Oxbridge), good leadership roles in societies and also did a first year summer internship at a boutique.
Is this just my CV not being good enough to get processed? Very confused and puzzled as to how to solve this.
Could anyone please provide more insights? Thanks.
Same here. Just assume you got dinged and keep applying. Nothing else to do.
At this rate there won’t be anything left to apply to lol. What a disaster of a recruitment cycle.
Not in your control, what else is there to do except apply and prep as hard as possible in case you get an interview.
Last year I think the Bristol tracker said it took ~68 applications to land an offer. It really is a numbers game.
Just got my UBS rejection hahah
You’ll only make it through the recruitment cycle if the rejections don’t come as a surprise and knock you
Are you a White or Asian male?
Of course I am! Straight too :)
Welcome to the 2020s where you now are at the very very BOTTOM of the pyramid OP…
Pretty sure that due to networking being way less important and the incredible volume of apps, plenty of good CVs just get randomly thrown out - hence the need for a large volume of applications.
Unlucky on the rejections so far but there's nothing we can do except continue to apply (and of course ensure your CV is optimised).
Thanks for the message. In the same position?
Well, I got the UBS VI but otherwise broadly yes.
If you get upset after every rejection you’re not built for the randomness of London recruiting
This. Also, dont feel entitled to an internship just because you go to a target. Finally, diversity still plays a role in UK recruiting unfortunately except at certain banks (MS, PJT)
Mate, it's fucking the 2nd of September. Firms are still very early in their selection process and sometimes it just takes time to get through applications. Relax. Apps did not open that long ago.
When IB is your life and personality. Kids don’t know how to breathe and enjoy life.
Chill out. At this point last year I had 0 interviews. I ended up with 9 ACs and 5 offers.
5 offers is wild, what was your profile like?
Nothing too crazy just absolutely grinded applications
Doesn’t UBS automatically send hirevues if you pass the assessment?
Unfortunately not, I had 18/18 and 30/32 and got rejected before HV but have received other HVs from banks of similar stature. It all seems so random. I did apply to UBS abit late though, after 3-4 days.
